1. With completion of surface pretreatment, steel surface may be uneven, primer may fill such unevenness to form a smooth film to increase contact area of pipe with adhesive layer for a strong bonding force.
2. After pretreatment of pipe, primer may be able to get rid of dust on the pipe surface.
3. The moisture of pipe surface will volatilize with AP primer, thus reducing possibility of corrosion.
Time interval from pretreatment to paining of primer shall be within 4 hours, and timer interval from primer painting to winding of tape shall be within 8 hours and the primer surface shall be dry and without dust (winding of tape on very windy or humid days is not suggested).
For use of AP primer, primer shall be mixed and stirred to be even in a container. If primer is thick, add some thinner to dilute. Make use of clean brush, roll and other mechanical methods to paint primer. The primer painted on pipe shall not have missed spots, no bubbles, blots or dripping, and even film is to be formed. Each liter of primer shall cover pipe area 10-12 m2 with manual operation. With drying of primer, start winding of adhesive tape.
